Behind the Nam Khan Idea is a group of European cosmopolitans who have fallen in love with Laos, Luang Prabang and the pristine nature it has to offer. Nam Khan stands for Water and River in Laotian and is the name of the river on which we are located – we did not choose the name – it was already there.
We are not a non profit organisation but all profits which the Nam Khan Foundation will do, will be reinvested into the project and the local community and systems to increase the reach of our educational information. On the Nam Khan ecofarm we will have educational facilities for local farmers and the community, as well as a educational center for childs and teenagers – one of the goals of the foundation besides the described activities is providing the possibility to visit schools or university and assist them on the way to create a new future.
The investment needed to execute the project is provided by the founders.
If you are interested in supporting the project in any way please do not hesitate to contact us, any help which we can use for the project or can pass on to the local community is highly welcome.
It is our vision to create and develop a sustainable eco farming nucleus project – being a educational center for local farmers for ecological farming as well as developing and offering new market entries through implementing modern technology for local farmers to use.
Embedded in the Ecofarm is our public experience space – consisting of a botanical garden, outside pool, spa, activities center as well as restaurant and hotel facilities – besides this we will be offering regular courses featuring themes like agriculture but also themes like meditation, yoga or related spiritual themes designed to attract the international visitor.
Construction works to implement the actual masterplan have started and we hope than the whole project will be completed in 2018, vegetable production in 9 greenhouses and various vegetable fields will already start in June 2017.
The NamKhan project will offer working places for approximately 100 local employees.
Middle of 2017 the building works for the main farm buildings are planed to start.
The masterplan is developed together with the Spanish architects www.cmv-architects.com from Palma de Mallorca.
Owner and property manager is the Green Tea ltd. a company incorporated in Laos, residing in Donkeong, Luang Prabang Laos.
